The Regional Entry Point provides information and links to Australian Government programmes and services relevant to people living in non-metropolitan, rural and remote Australia.

The primary objective of the regional portal is to make accessing programmes and services easier without people needing to know the structure of Government or portfolio responsibilities.

The Regional Entry Point has been developed as part of the Australian Government's Online Strategy. Under this strategy, the government is establishing 18 customer-focussed portals to provide Australians with online access to Australian Government information and services.

The customer-focussed portals framework will simplify the process of finding services and information which a customer is searching for. The framework will build on the existing Australian Government Entry Point, adding a related set of websites that present collections of government information and services in ways that are designed around customer groupings and subject matter areas, rather than merely reflecting administrative structures.
