Regional Development Australia Great Southern WA Inc
On 25 August 2009, the Hon Maxine McKew MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, and the Hon Brendon Grylls MLA, Western Australian Minister for Regional Development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the Australian and Western Australian Governments. (See Joint Media Statement.)
The MOU supports the adoption of more integrated and aligned arrangements for regional engagement and economic development between the Australian Government through the Regional Development Australia (RDA WA) network, and the Western Australian Government through Regional Development Commissions (RDC).
In Western Australia, the RDA (WA) network has replaced the Australian Government’s nine Area Consultative Committees. The RDA (WA) network will ensure improved communication between the people of Western Australia and all levels of government and will work to advance regional development priorities and retain jobs.
The new RDA Great Southern committee
The new RDA-GS Committee was announced by the Hon Maxine McKew in early December 2009 (see the Media Release).
